Cool Iomega USB 2TB eGo

USB 3.0 seems getting close to eSATA in transfer speed. My eGo charcoal is proving this fact. Great buy.

Don’t think about 320 Prestige Iomega GB

I have had several bad experiences with USB data storage in the past 6 months. So I jumped back into the market with this due to a Gold Box Deal. And have loved it. I have not yet had to use both USB ports, and I have used this drive on about 5 different computers. It comes with five different software packages, which I have yet to try.

The drive feels quite sturdy and has survived being moved around quite a bit since I purchased it. It is quite fast and is useful as a backup device, though I mainly use it to move data between my desktop and business laptop. It is larger than I had hoped, but it fits well into my back pack that I store my computer in.

All in all, very happy. Wish it was a little smaller in size, but for what I paid. I am happy. I feel you will too.

Do you really love 1TB eGo FireWire Iomega ?

Card I received is defective. It took a while to realize it was the card that was defective rather than the Kodak Zi8 I purchased it for. Went to Transcend’s website, downloaded their AutoFormat tool, and confirmed that the card is defective. I recieve a “fail” message “format error.” Tried formatting the card on my computer and on the Zi8 – no luck.

Of course, Amazon’s return window expired 2 days ago, so they won’t take it back.

This should be covered by Transcend’s warrantly, but I’m unable to get through to Transcend. I’ve repeatedly tried to contact Transcend via its customer service website (promising 24/7 support), but when I try to send the customer service form I filled out on their webiste, the site just times out and the form will not go through [...]). Of course, Transcend does not provide an email address or telephone number so you can actually actually speak with a human being. To add insult to injury, Transcend’s RMA form won’t download, either [...] (”a connection with the server could not be established”).

Pro StorCenter Iomega ix4 run out

Buggy, BUGGY firmware/OS. The OS is embedded on and written to the SATA disks and is not reinstallable. I had the same issues as other users of this unit – the unit would completely freeze up and become unresponsive. The only way to reset the unit is to power cycle by pulling the power cord. Would lose CIFS and iSCSI shares and connectivity for no reason, even though the unit would still respond to pings. Their tech support was good and agreed to replace the unit, but that does NOTHING for the production data that was running on my unit…it won’t stay up long enough to copy the data off the drives. Yes, I’m running the latest “stable” firmware from the Iomega site. Be advised, Iomega will quickly admit their firmware/OS is causing the problem and will send you a new box, but they will do nothing to help you get your production data off the unit as a result of their defective product. You’ll end up spending major $ on data recovery. My advice, save your money & don’t buy it.

Prestige GB 250 Iomega suck

Seems to be a few reviews commenting about problems with the cable not being secure. Not sure if Iomega have upgraded or its because people are reviewing the 320GB model under the 500GB description but this is not an issue with the 500GB drive I received. I even picked it up and turned the drive round 360 degrees whilst doing a test backup. Sure the cable got in a tangle but the drive carried on copying with no sign of the cable being loose what-so-ever.

I must admit it was slightly bigger than I expected, the photo against a paper clip just got me thinking it was going to be really tiny and I didnt worry about reading the dimensions.
Dont get me wrong though this thing is very small for something that packs in 500GB. Prob about 50% bigger than an I-phone’s dimensions. So it looks VERY stylish, packs 500GB into a small package and doesnt need any external power, works for me.
