To anyone who has difficulty or issues with the author’s use of dialect (specifically, the inconsistencies pertaining to white southern accents vs. black southern accents), I suggest you LISTEN to this story, The Help, rather than read it. Performed beautifully by Octavia Spencer as Minny (who will also play her in the film), Jenna Lamia, who is the author of The Secret Life of Bees and Bahni Turpin, this book provided solid and poignant entertainment for about 18 hours.
This story of a white southern woman, a recent graduate of Ole Miss with aspirations to become a writer–or do something meaningful with her life other than become another southern genteel woman who marries well. Her name is Eugenia, but she’s called “Skeeter.” Skeeter, gangly tall with unruly hair and socially awkward, was raised by a black maid by the name of Constantine. Constantine inexplicably disappears from her life while she is away at school and this leaves a big hole. Skeeter fills it by observing how white women (particularly her closest friends) treat their hired help–their black maids–and decides to write an exposé in the form of a book. She enlists the help of her friends’ maids, the sensible and loving Aibileen, and the more outspoken and quick witted Minny. They work in secret, all tremendously fearing the consequences not only of their pending exposé, but also due to their mere “inappropriate” conversations/associations.

Wow! Network LG 1100W LHB535
I have to say that I am really enjoying my new blueray home theater system. Overall its a great product. The only thing that I can say that didnt impress me was the quality of the front speakers. I replaced them with some small cabinet speakers from Blue and Yellow because after I set it all up, I began to understand what other people meant when they stated that the speakers made everyone sound like they had a cold or had a tinlike sound. If youre in the market for a good entry level combo, the LHB535 is the ticket.

Today about PF W2753V 27 LG
Its bright (I love the auto-bright adjustment), huge, and fast. I play WoW and it looks amazing. At 400nits, 27″ with an HDMI input (I use for my flip camcorder), and 16:9 its an excellent value at $389 from Fry’s Electronics 12-11-09. The downside is it screen tears with some 2D games if the VSYNC option isn’t enabled in the game.
